バンド紹介

DARKEST HOUR（ダーケスト・アワー）は、1995年にアメリカ合衆国ワシントンD.C.で結成されたメロディック・デス・メタル・バンドです。オリジナルメンバーは、ジョン・ヘンリー（John Henry）<Vo>、マイク・シュライバウム（Mike Schleibaum）<Gt>、マット・メイベン（Matt Maben）<Dr>、ラウル・マヨルガ（Raul Mayorga）<Ba>でした。1996年にデモの『Darkest Hour』、EP『The Misanthrope』をリリースし、その後も精力的に活動を続けました。

2000年には、デビューアルバム『The Mark of the Judas』を発表しましたが、リリース後に所属レーベルが倒産するという不運に見舞われました。しかし、翌年にはVictory Recordsと契約し、2ndアルバム『So Sedated, So Secure』をリリースしました。この作品は高い評価を受け、バンドの知名度を大きく向上させました。

2003年には、3rdアルバム『Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation』をリリースし、音楽性をメタルコアからメロディック・デスメタルへとシフトさせました。このアルバムは、バンドの人気をさらに高め、2004年のOzzfestへの出演も果たしました。

2005年には、Strapping Young Ladのデヴィン・タウンゼンドをプロデューサーに迎えた4作目のアルバム『Undoing Ruin』をリリース。この作品は、バンド初のBillboard 200チャート入りを果たし、初週で6,600枚を売り上げ、110位に初登場しました。

その後も、2007年の『Deliver Us』、2009年の『The Eternal Return』、2011年の『The Human Romance』など、精力的にアルバムをリリース。2014年には、セルフタイトルのアルバム『Darkest Hour』を発表し、2017年にはクラウドファンディングを通じて制作された『Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora』をリリース。

2020年、2021年と主要のメンバーが脱退しますが、2023年11月14日には、10作目のスタジオアルバム『Perpetual | Terminal』のタイトル曲をリリースし、2024年2月23日にアルバムが発売されました。
