TRIVIUM（トリヴィアム）とは？バンドの基本情報と音楽性

TRIVIUM（トリヴィアム）は、アメリカ・フロリダ州オーランド出身のメタルコア／スラッシュ／ヘヴィ・メタル・バンドです。2000年に結成され、2000年代以降のモダン・メタルシーンを牽引する存在として、世界中に多くのファンを持ちます。スピード感あふれるリフ、攻撃的なグロウルと叙情的なクリーンボイスを融合させた楽曲スタイルが特徴です。

TRIVIUMは2000年、当時14歳だった日本人の母を持つ日系アメリカ人である、マシュー・キイチ・ヒーフィー（Matthew Kiichi Heafy）<Vo,Gt>を中心に結成されました。初期はスラッシュメタルの影響が色濃いサウンドで注目を集め、2003年に自主制作アルバム『Ember to Inferno』でデビューしました。

2004年、名門レーベル「Roadrunner Records」と契約を果たし、翌年には2ndアルバム『Ascendancy』を発表します。この作品はメタルコアとスラッシュメタルを融合させたサウンドで、KILLSWITCH ENGAGEやLAMB OF GODと並ぶ存在として評価されました。若干19歳だったマシュー・キイチ・ヒーフィーのパフォーマンスは、メタルシーンに大きな衝撃を与えました。

2006年の『The Crusade』では、よりスラッシュ色を強めたスタイルにシフトし、「モダン・メタリカ」とも評されました。その後も『Shogun』（2008）、『In Waves』（2011）、『Vengeance Falls』（2013）など、各作品ごとに異なるアプローチを試みながら、バンドとしての多様性と技術力を高めていきました。

2017年にリリースされた『The Sin and the Sentence』では、バンドの全盛期を彷彿とさせる勢いと完成度が復活し、批評家・ファンの両方から高い評価を受けました。2020年代以降も『What the Dead Men Say』（2020）、『In the Court of the Dragon』（2021）といったアルバムを次々と発表し、進化を止めない姿勢を見せ続けています。

TRIVIUMは、メタルコア、スラッシュ、プログレッシブ・メタルなど多彩なジャンルを取り入れつつ、現代メタルの最前線で活躍し続けています。SNSやTwitchなどを活用したファンとの交流にも積極的で、デジタル時代に即した存在感も際立っています。TRIVIUMは、20年以上にわたり変化と挑戦を続けることで、メタル界の中核的存在となったバンドです。メタルコアを起点にしながら、スラッシュやヘヴィ・メタルの要素を取り入れた独自のサウンドで、多くのファンを魅了し続けています。今後の活動にも引き続き注目が集まることでしょう。
